I can’t believe my little man is one year’s old! It’s unbelieveable to think of how much he’s changed over the months. We celebrated his birthday up in NY with the family while we were up there for Thanksgiving. Brandon gets excited when the “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” show comes on, so I knew that it was the perfect theme for his birthday party.

Without further ado, here is THE cake!

The bottom portion of the cake is 3 layers of chocolate with strawberry filling in between the layers. I also carved the clubhouse out of homemade fondant and my husband colored all of the cakes and individual fondant pieces that were used to decorate the cake. A sky blue color for the bottom should have been used – and it will next time, right honey? Anyways, the top layer is made up 2, 6 inch french vanilla cakes with strawberry filling. For the cake topper, I bought the mickey mouse clubhouse figurines at the Disney store and I used my Cricut to cut out the stars and letters.

What’s a first birthday party celebration without a smash cake?!?

And both cakes pictured together:

Brandon’s plan of attack: dip mickey into the delicious icing and lick it off! 🙂

This was the cake’s ultimate fate:

Isn’t he just so darn adorable??? (ok, so maybe I’m a little bias) 😉

We can’t wait to make more of these sort of cakes. We’ve decided that we will try a Super Mario theme cake in the near future… any interested recipients?! 🙂
